Lets see here…

I Graduated from UWP (2006) with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science, and minor degrees in Philosophy, and History.

I graduated from Walden III High School in 2001, my time spent at that school changed my life. Never underestimate the impact a small progressive group of teachers can have on the life of a child. I learned at Walden that in order to combat the flaws in present system one must understand it completely. Which led to a degree in Political Science and History. Although, I must admit that I have never been so fascinated by any subject mater more than I was with resistance. The Nature of Walden directed me toward the study of Philosophy, and without it I would probably be crazy by now.

I love sailing more than anything in the world; I have been racing sailboats on Lake Michigan since I was 7. Growing up as a sailor has had a great impact, it is more of a lifestyle than a sport really. Spending days on the open water is both humbling and inspiring; I can not think of anyplace I feel safer. Days and nights at the mercy of the wind and water can teach you more than you would ever think.

I enjoy photography, any chance I get, I love to go exploring with my camera. Photography allows me to explore the world while capturing the moments that inspire me. I also love the ability photos have to spark memories and enjoy documenting trips for those I travel with (it gives me a mission). … My camera is by far my favorite toy.

In general:
I love introspective music, films, and books. I enjoy exploring nature, while co-existing with it. I appreciate good friends and intelligent conversation. I feel completely at home in the forest, second only to my comfort on water. I love everything on this planet for the part it plays; however, I am often ashamed of my own species. I both love and hate humanity, because it can both inspire and disgust me. I'd rather be outside; I don't like wearing shoes; although I understand why Che finds them so important. I stop often to appreciate wind, water, and sunlight, but don't worry I'll catch up. I respect anything that is more than the sum of its parts. I enjoy listening to the forest grow more than what is on the radio. I feel hate toward nothing on this planet other than that which I feel to be true injustice.

I am currently a Graduate student at Alverno College in Milwaukee, working toward my Master's degree in education. I am working as a substitute teacher for the next couple of years while I'm in Graduate School. I love my job. Everyday is an adventure which ends in a great deal of newly accumulated knowledge and perspective. You would be amazed at what you can relearn by teaching it seven times in a row, it's rewarding. However there is no reward greater than the connecting with my students. I finally have a career in which I feel that I am being completely true to myself, and that is all I've really ever wanted. After witnessing the extremes of human potential I decided that I needed to dedicate the rest of my life to teaching future generations how to undue what we have done. This is why I chose the broad-field of Social Studies. My goal is to teach High School.

I have been a Human rights activist since I was fourteen; along with a member of Amnesty international, and Students for a free Tibet. I have been told that I have been an avid environmentalist since I could talk. In third grade my goal became to make the world a better place, and that has remained my goal since.

In 2007 and 2009 I traveled to Chiapas, Mexico where I worked and lived with the indigenous communities of the EZLN resistance. The experience changed my life and I highly recommend looking into working with the Zapatistas to anyone willing to discover the true meaning of justice liberty and dignity.

The land is breathtaking and life there provides endless perspective.
